A Day at the Beach

Today we drove down to Santa Cruz to go to the beach with some friends of ours. The drive was long and the morning was cool and foggy, but we all had a great time. S-Boogie and Daddy even braved the icy Pacific Ocean; this photo was taken shortly before a big wave attacked them both. She spent the rest of the day warning people, "watch out for the wipe-out!"

Little Dude spent a bit of time in the water, but got very cold and decided that he preferred spending time on land wrapped in a towel. This picture demonstrates the reality of visiting the beach in Northern California: bring warm clothes so you don't die of hypothermia.

This is the other reality: the sun comes out eventually and the day gets warm and nice. The water still doesn't get warm, but S-Boogie went back in for more after lunch. She wants to learn how to surf some day.

And now she demonstrates what happens when Mommy is not very careful with the sunscreen stick. Unfortunately the cold and cloudy morning fooled us and we weren't as careful as we should have been. We're all fairly pink and Mr. Fob even burned his feet (again). Nevertheless it was an awesome day and well worth the drive.
