Seven Months Old

P. Bibby is now seven months old. As you can see from this picture, she started eating solid food a few weeks ago and really loves it. I think this particular meal was avocado mixed with banana. She is still a great sleeper although sometimes getting to sleep at bedtime is still a bit of a challenge. She loves playing on the floor with her toys and is clearly developing favorites. She got to try camping this month and decided that it really was not her favorite thing at all. Now that we've been home for a few weeks she has put herself on a pretty nice routine and is generally a fairly pleasant baby.

Due to our vacation and our busy doctor's office we ended up delaying her checkup to seven months instead of six. When we did her measurements and put them into the computer the doctor was concerned. She's dropped from the sixtieth percentile at two months to the first (that means that right now 99 percent of babies her age are bigger than her). She only weighs about thirteen-and-a-half pounds, which is not even double her birth weight--a milestone she should have hit by six months. Since she is developmentally on track and looks healthy, the doctor is fairly certain that it is simply an issue of her not getting enough calories. I've felt like my milk supply has been low for a few months but I didn't realize that it was that bad. We've started supplementing with formula and hopefully when we check her weight in a month things will be better. Other than her growth issues, P.Bibby passed her checkup with flying colors. During the last few days she has figured out how to scoot around the house and is helping Mom clean the floor.
