11 Months

Little Dude turned 11 months old yesterday. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since was born. Of course, last April 28th I didn't think I was only four weeks away from having a baby. Three weeks really can make a difference. But early or not, I'm still glad Little Dude came. I don't know if it's his longer hair, the fact that he's getting taller and skinnier, or his new teeth, but he suddenly looks older lately. Several people have commented to me recently that he has turned the corner from "baby" to "little boy". He's still very sweet and loves pretty much anything except getting his diaper changed, having to be in his crib, and going to sleep. He loves to eat, especially carbs like pancakes or toast. Little Dude has also been showing off the fact that his brain is rapidly developing. Tonight we were singing "The Wheels on the Bus" and he looked at S-Boogie and I rolling our arms and started rolling one arm with a fist around just like us (he can't quite do two, but it was obvious he was trying to copy). He also figured out the sign for "more" and has not only used it to indicate that he wants more food, but also more toothbrush (I think it helps his mouth feel better) and more noises from S-Boogie's duck whistle. He is also figuring out how to put things onto or into each other, and loves his set of stacking blocks. I've watched him sit for a long time (10 or 15 minutes) putting the blocks together and pulling them apart again. My favorite part is the way he smiles and laughs with such satisfaction when he does something.

S-Boogie is probably his favorite person in the world--well, she would be if she could make his bottles and feed him. This afternoon her nap time was a joke, because she kept leaving the door open to her room and he would crawl back there and giggle maniacally when he found her in bed. They still haven't really figured out how to play together yet, though, and I usually have to intervene when I find her sitting on top of him, yanking his arms or legs, or body slamming him to the ground when he dares to stand up next to the couch. Little Dude is still doing lots of cruising along furniture, but no solo standing or walking just yet. I'm not sure I'm in a big hurry for that to happen!

In summary, I'm glad to have Little Dude around. He's a pretty sweet little guy and I can't wait to celebrate his birthday next month. Happy 11 months little one!

He makes my heart ache he's so sweet. It seems like when they get teeth they seem all grown-up. I have to confess--I am always so impressed with your smart kids.

That was fun to read about LD- especially since I have never met the little guy. And such cute pictures too.

He is so precious. I love his little surfer shirt over the longsleeves. He looks well adjusted to Seattle living.
I felt like my baby turned into a little toddler before I realized it. We were grocery shopping, just me and him today, and everyone kept commenting on what a funny little boy he was and I was thinking to myself, dude. He's my baby, not a boy!

Look forward to the day he can walk over to Sboogie and take her down. It will be awesome.

Sooo cute. Holy crapola. Maybe you could just send him to Morocco next week with Mom & Dad? I could just cart him around my little town for a while. People there need a new reason to think I'm weird.
