The fact that our giant desk is close to the bed has presented a problem from the time we got it. S-Boogie is constantly bouncing off the bed into the edges of the desk (she'll try and climb on the bed, or sit on its edge--we don't usually let her actually jump on it). She usually only gets small owies, but today she banged her lip on the edge of the desk and cut it with her teeth. Luckily it didn't bleed much, but I was impressed by the swelling! (After taking this picture she asked if she could take a picture of the "owies on mommy's face". I declined.)
In other news, Little Dude has made the connection that signing "more" will get him more food. I'll try and get video of it one of these days.

Oh, that looks like it hurts. Give her a kiss for me.
Ouch!! It looks like a huge blood blister. And for Little Dude- I'd say more is the best sign you can learn. :) That was Kayla's favorite too.
What's the best resource (read: book) you've found for signing? I'd love to try and teach TinyDes a little bit. I regretted not teaching DesTot when she had such problems learning to talk.
I actually don't remember any specific books on signing. I know we checked out one or two from the library, but I don't remember any of their titles. We started watching Signing Time with S-Boogie when she was a little past 1 year old, and it really helped me to learn signs. We also found a deck of basic "baby sign" flashcards from some store and used those a little bit too. They should have Signing Time at the library. They were S-Boogie's favorite videos for a long time, and I feel like they are a good choice for kid TV.
I've found that most kids this age are really primed for learning new things, so you just have to remember to consistently do it and get excited when they do it. The problem with signs like "more" is when they do it and the food is all gone. It's so sad! (Little Dude was doing that tonight)
