This morning we went to an Easter egg hunt here at our family housing community center. It was fun for the kids; I liked that they had empty eggs out to find, and then the kids turned the eggs in for a goodie bag with a few treats in it. It was nice not to have to worry about empty plastic eggs all over my house today. Then this afternoon S-Boogie and Daddy colored eggs together while Little Dude napped. If you look closely, you can see that Mr. Fob is holding an egg that looks like the world. S-Boogie is showing off the fact that this year Momma caved into commercialism and bought the Dora egg-dying kit.

Very a-Dora-ble...no really---and look at that smile!!
That is a cute idea with the empty eggs. Yeah, we were a little overwhelmed with candy from school and church and friends birthday parties so we just put dimes and recycled candy (from the above events) in the eggs. It really is about the hunt- not really what is in the egg. I also read something in the Family Fun magazine a few years back that we have been doing ever since... each child has a designated egg color and that is the only eggs they hunt for. That way each child gets the same amount of eggs and you can control what they actually receive.
What a great idea! We'll have to try that next year.
