Pause

We had a late night last night, because I had a friend watch my kids while Mr. Fob had play practice and I went to work. Last night was also Enrichment, so she took the kids to the church with her and then I came for the last part of the event and took them home with me. So, it was after nine o'clock when we pulled into our parking lot. As I was getting the kids out of the car all I could think about was the stress of trying to get two very tired little children into bed as quickly as possible. Suddenly Little Dude said "ooh!" and pointed up at the moon. S-Boogie looked and exclaimed "oh, it's a crescent moon!". Little Dude started signing "stars", and then S-Boogie showed him how to sign "moon". We took a minute to look at the sky and talk about the stars, the moon, and the airplane that we saw. Then we went inside and things got crazy and whiny again, but I'm glad we had a little moment outside under the stars.

It was relaxing just reading that. It is amazing the peace that nature can bring.

That is so cool how your kids know how to sign. Did you already know how to sign, or did you just look up words and decide which words to teach them? At what age did you start?

We actually haven't done all that much to teach them sign language--mostly we just have them watch Signing Time DVDs, which is where we've also learned all the signs we know. We started both of them watching the DVDs at about six months and we'd repeat some of the signs throughout the day as the came up (like "milk" or "more" or "all done"), and by eight months each of them were doing their first signs.

Wow that is cool. Maluhia makes 4 months next week. So we'll try it in a few months and let you know how it goes. Where did you get the DVD's from?

We've bought a couple of the DVDs on Amazon.com, but mostly we get them from the library. I think Tina has gotten them from the Hawai'i State Library before too.
