Today S-Boogie had to give a talk in Primary on the subject of family. I decided a few years ago that I would like to encourage my kids to write their own talks as much as possible, and so far this has been going well (it's only her second talk ever). Today I asked S-Boogie what she would like to say about her family and her role in it. The first thing she came up with was "my parents teach me to say 'it's my body and you can't touch it' to people". Nice. Then she wanted to say that sometimes she gets frustrated with her family. After a little more discussion, we came up with the following (She drew pictures to go with it):
"I have a mom and a dad and a little brother. This is me and my little brother going to church. This is me helping my mom and dad. We like to go to the library and the park together in our car. Sometimes we like to watch TV together. I love to have Family Home Evening. I'm glad I have my family and I'm thankful for it."
The funniest part was when I whispered the line about helping her parents into her ear, she repeated it as "I yell at my parents", which is also true. I think some of the teachers caught it and laughed.
