When do we have to stop calling him Little Dude? It's been about five years since we started this blog and I can't believe how grown up he is. I guess his size is still little; he had his checkup the other day and weighs in at 37 pounds and 43 inches tall. That is a gain of 4 pounds from last year as well as three inches, but compared to many kids his age he's pretty little. During the last six months or so his height has really surpassed his weight gain and he is our little skinny scarecrow. He still loves eating quesadillas and macaroni and cheese, and I've been trying to get him to eat other stuff as well. As you can see from the picture, he loves Scooby Doo and we had a Scooby-themed party this year. He also still loves Batman and other superheroes, and is obsessed with playing Club Penguin computer games online. His other latest obsession is playing board games and he constantly asks us to play games with him. He is quite good and them and can beat me in checkers. Daddy is teaching him to play chess and I think he will be a good player as he gets older. Little Dude also likes building with Duplos or even just creating things with cardboard boxes or other stuff around the house. He just finished preschool and had a great time; his teacher tells me that he was a little shy at first but really warmed up to the class and was a wonderful student. On April Fool's day he decided to play a trick on his teacher. Each day in class the teacher had a kid be the 'special helper', and they got to wear a little nametag. For April Fool's Day Little Dude cut out a little piece of paper, made it look like the special tag, and had me pin it to his shirt. His teacher loved it, and so did I! He reads really well now and can write pretty well. The most important part of turning five for him is getting his own library card. He has been talking about it for months now and can't wait to go get one this week.

Actually I think that calling him "Little Dude" when he grows up to be over 6 feet tall will be especially excellent. Never stop!
