This year Little Dude got to have his first birthday party with friends. We decided to go for a Scooby-Doo theme and it was a lot of fun. I got some ideas online and it was pretty easy to put something together. When the kids came in, we had them put their presents in the living room and go in the dining room to color. Then we took them back in the living room to open the presents, but all they found was a note telling them they needed to dance. We had a 'dance challenge' where they danced to the Scooby Doo theme and had to freeze when the music stopped. Then, the next clue told them to go 'stomp the ghosts'. They had to go in the basement and step on a bunch of white balloons, then clean up the pieces to find the next clue. The next clue was about the mummies in the cave of mystery, so we got toilet paper from the storage room and wrapped S-Boogie up like a mummy. Then the kids chased the mummy upstairs where they found a mysterious man guarding the presents. When they unmasked him, he let them open the presents. Then we ate cake and ice cream and watched Scooby Doo until parents came to get their kids. Everyone had a great time and it came together really well.
My friend had a Scooby Doo cake pan so I got to try my hand at this type of cake decorating. I'd never done it before and so I'm pleased with the result.
